The Revenue Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely revenue records, processing proceeds, preparing management reports, and reconciling revenue activity. This role supports the full revenue cycle, ensures proper regulatory reporting, and collaborates with internal teams to maintain accuracy across all revenue transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support all monthly regulatory filings and payments, including ONRR, Tribal, BIA, and production taxes.
- Perform wellhead sales allocations to working interest owners for both current-month activity and prior-period adjustments (PPAs).
- Ensure revenue accounts receivable is accurately offset against cash receipts after revenue has been booked.
- Set up revenue agreements and shipper contracts within the accounting system to ensure proper accounting of marketing arrangements, gathering systems, severance taxes, pricing, and product flow.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue variance analyses.
- Work with field operations and Marketing to verify volumes and pricing.
- Calculate and record monthly revenue accrual entries.
- Coordinate the monthly revenue payment run.
- Calculate pipeline inventories and imbalances; prepare ledger entries and process sales adjustments to reflect inventory impacts.
- Research, reconcile, and resolve outstanding accounts receivable issues.
- Prepare assigned monthly account reconciliations.
- Manage suspense balances in collaboration with the land administration team.
- Maintain accurate payout balances and ensure timely booking of PPAs.
- Provide revenue source documentation and support audit requests.
- Serve as a key point of contact for owner inquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting for oil volumes stored at terminals and in rail cars.
- Process owner voids and reissues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of oil and gas revenue accounting experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with oil and gas accounting software.
- Experience with Enertia is preferred.
- Experience with tribal/federal lands and Utah operations is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in the following areas:

- Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

- Account reconciliation
- Accounts receivable and collections
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary: $80,000 - $143,000, depending on experience
- Eligible for annual incentive compensation
